Le croissance relative, chez les crabes, de trois caractères sexuels secondaires -pinces, abdomen et premiers pléopodes - a fait l'objet d'observations. Il existe de fortes variations spécifiques dans le taux de croissance, mais on peut cependant distinguer un mode de croissance distinct pour chacun des trois caractères considérés. Il y a des différences dans ce mode suivant les caractères considérés et suivant le sexe, et la signification adaptative de ces variations est discutée.
