Une nouvelle espèce de crevette Pontoniinae, Palaemonella pusilla, est signalée du Kenya, et la redécouverte, dans les eaux de l'Afrique orientale, de P. spinulata Yokoya, qui n'était jusqu'à présent connue que du Japon, est notée; la morphologie des deux espèces est décrite et illustrée et leur position systématique discutée. Les deux espèces proviennent de récifs de coraux en eaux peu profondes et sont considérées comme des espèces libres. La distribution zoogéographique des six espèces de Palaemonella dans la région indo-pacifique occidentale est délimitée et discutée.
