Une nouvelle espèce du genre Typton Costa, T. wasini est décrite et illustrée. Plusieurs spécimens ont été obtenus d'une éponge récoltée à une profondeur de 11 m à Wasin Channel, Kenya. La nouvelle espèce est très proche de T. dentatus Fujino & Miyake, à cause du rostre qui a des dents dorsales. Il y a maintenant quatre espèces de Typton reconnues dans la région Indo-pacifique occidentale. Une clef est pourvue pour leur identification et leur parenté et distribution sont discutées.
