Rhinediaptomus mahanandiensis n. sp., described from Mahanandi, a pilgrim centre in South India, differs from the only species of the genus Rhinediaptomus viz., R. indicus Kiefer, in the larger body size; in possessing a two-segmented endopodite equalling the length of the first exopodite-segment in the female fifth pair of legs; in the shape of the second exopodite-segment of the male right fifth leg; in the lateral spine arising from the middle of the said segment and having no basal chitinous structure; and in the nature of the end claw of the same leg.
