Le matériel-type de Pontonia medipacifica Edmondson est redécrit et illustré. La position systématique de cette espèce dans le genre Pontonia Latreille est confirmée et elle est considérée comme la plus proche de P. ascidicola Borradaile. Les traits qui distinguent P. medipacifica de P. ascidicola sont notés. P. medipacifica n'est connue que par le matériel-type récolté en 1934 à Midway Island, provenant d'un hôte qui n'a pas été identifié. L'hôte est vraisemblablement une Ascidien comme c'est le cas pour les autres espèces Indo-Ouest-Pacifiques de ce genre.
