Pseudozeuxo belizensis sp. n., gen. n. is described from Carrie Bow Cay, Belize (Carribbean Sea). Discussion of its phylogenetic relationships shows that this taxon has to be placed in a separate family, Pseudozeuxidae fam. n., which is considered a "connecting link" between the Tanaidae and Paratanaidae. This opinion is mainly based on the structure of the mouthparts in the male.
