Two specimens of the nephropid genus Acanthacaris collected from southwest of Kyushu, Japan were recently examined. They proved to belong to A. tenuimana Bate, which constitutes the first record for the Japanese fauna. The present paper presents short notes on these specimens, showing the range extension and some morphological variations of this rare species. The material is deposited at the museum of Shimonoseki University of Fisheries (SUF).
