During the course of a distributional study of shrimps belonging to the Solenoceridae and Benthesicymidae, I found that one member of each of these families, Cryptopenaeus catherinae and Benthesicymus bartletti, respectively, occur in areas in which they have not been previously reported. Except for the records of B. bartletti in Suriname and French Guiana, all represent extensions of the ranges. Recently, Takeda (1983) recorded the presence of B. bartletti in "Suriname and French Guiana", but did not give the precise localities from which his specimens had been collected.
