Une nouvelle espèce du genre Typton Costa 1844, provenant du Récif d'Ashmore, Mer de Timor, est décrite et illustrée. Malheureusement, les deux spécimens ne sont pas complets et la plupart des péréiopodes sont absents, mais ils presentent des caractères bien distinctifs. T. dimorphus sp. nov. se rapproche de T. anomalus (Bruce) and T. dentatus Fujino & Miyake, surtout dans la morphologie des pièces buccales. Une clef pour la séparation des espèces de la région indopacifique occidentale est fournie.
