Les larves de la crevette d'eau douce, Macrobrachium malayanum (Roux, 1934) ont été élevées en laboratoire. Le développement larvaire est d'un type fortement abrégé, avec deux zoés et une mégalope. Les larves nouvellement écloses étaient benthiques et les deux stades zoé, comme la mégalope, subsistaient uniquement sur le vitellus endogène, l'alimentation commençant seulement au stade juvénile. La morphologie des stades larvaires a été comparée à celle d'autres espèces connues de Macrobrachium à développement fortement abrégé. La nomenclature des épines de la carapace larvaire est aussi brièvement discutée.
