Des différences microscopiques distinctes existent entre les conduits spermatiques droit et gauche de beaucoup de représentants du genre Procambarus. Ces différences portent sur le degré d'enroulement, le diamètre et l'opacité. De telles variations ne sont pas apparentes chez les mâles des genres Orconectes et Cambarus. Une étude histologique des conduits spermatiques a été effectuée en microscopie photonique et electronique. La couche épithéliale, la musculature, et le contenu des conduits dans les régions proximale, mésiale et distale sont décrits. Les aspects fonctionnels des deux conduits sont envissagés.
