Sudanonautes orthostylis (Bott, 1955) est décrit d'après un spécimen trouvé dans les collines Oban (Oban Hills), Etat de Cross River, Nigeria, dans un tributaire du fleuve Kwa, en forêt humide. D'autre spécimens d'origines camerounienne et ghanéenne [examinés au British Museum (Natural History), Londres] sont comparés avec les exemplaires nigériens. Sudanonautes orthostylis est le quatrième espèce connue du genre Sudanonautes Bott, 1955, les autres ayant été trouvées en Afrique occidentale et Centrale. Sudanonautes orthostylis diffère des autres espèces du genre par les caractéristiques suivantes: Le segment terminal du gonopode 1 est large; le pénultième segment du gonopode 1 est élancé, et la pince droite est plus allongée et renflée. Sudanonautes orthostylis est un hôte intermédiaire du parasite Paragonimus, source de la paragonimose chez l'homme.
