Étude ultrastructurale et histologique d'un organe dorso-médian situé entre les plaques frontales chez un certain nombre d'espèces de Caligus, et dont on a supposé qu'il était de nature chimio-sensorielle. Sa forme et sa structure différaient suivant les espèces: villiforme chez Caligus africanus, C. bonito, C. besiriodentatus et C. diaphanus, rugueux chez C. infestans et C. productus, et ridé chez C. penrithi. Histologiquement cette structure apparaît comme dépourvue de toute organisation cellulaire ou d'innervation. On peut donc penser que cet "organe" n'a pas de fonction chimio-sensorielle et qu'il n'est en fait qu'une ornementation cuticulaire.
