La fécondité relative à la taille chez l'amphipode Hyalella azteca (Saussure, 1858) a été examinée chez neuf populations géographiquement distinctes occupant des régions aux conditions limnologiques et climatiques très divergentes. On a trouvé que ces populations variaient en termes de fécondité absolue (interceptes) et relative (pentes), formant cinq régressions statistiquement identifiables. Les plus faibles fécondités furent observées chez les populations habitant des lacs oligotrophes non-alkalins au Canada.
