Le genre Enterocola est avant tout signalé des eaux européennes, E. ianthina et E. laticeps seulement étant trouvés sur d'autres côtes. Parmi les 13 espèces européennes, E. brementi et E. fertilis seuls sont proches d'E. gottoi sp. nov., qui est décrite et comparée ici aux deux espèces précédemment mentionnées.
