Une nouvelle espèce de Monstrilla est décrite, en provenance de Bahia de la Ascensiôn, une baie mexicaine en eau peu profonde, située sur la côte est de la péninsule du Yucatan. La nouvelle espèce se distingue par plusieurs caractères et, entre autres, par la présence d'une carène antérieure ventrale, unique dans le groupe, et par la structure particulière du somite génital double.
