Hippolyte lagarderei sp. nov. from the Atlantic shores of Morocco, Hippolyte varians Leach from the Atlantic coasts of Europe and Hippolyte holthuisi Zariquiey Alvarez from the Mediterranean are described and illustrated in detail. H. varians from Southern Portugal proves to be identical with North European specimens and quite distinct from Mediterranean H. holthuisi.
