A little known crangonid, Metacrangon laevis (Yokoya, 1933), is redescribed and illustrated in detail on the basis of specimens recently collected from Hokkaido, Japan. It is distinguishable from close relatives by the absence of paired dorsal carinae on the sixth abdominal somite. Brief notes on the biology are also included.
