Calanopia asymmetrica n. sp. is described from shallow coastal waters off West Java. It is closely related to C. herdmani, but the female is easily distinguished by the asymmetrical caudal rami and the male is identifiable by characters of the caudal rami and the fifth legs. The relationships between the Calanopia species are discussed and a key to the species or species groups is provided.
