Paramonoculopsis acuta, a new genus and species belonging to the family Oedicerotidae, is described from the south-west Atlantic, based on an ovigerous female, collected by manual extraction from algae during low tide. Its relationship with Monoculopsis Sars, 1895 is discussed, and it is also compared to some other genera of the family.
