Aqueous extracts of goldfish corpuscles of Stannius (CS) were administered to the stingray, Dasyatis akajei to investigate the effects on the plasma magnesium levels. Hypermagnesemia was observed I h after treatment with CS extract. This response increased gradually untill 3 h. Thereafter, the levels returned to control values at 6 h.
