Some commercial gas adsorption instruments still use a rough method for calculation of mesopore size distribution. Therefore, we have reviewed some practical methods of calculation proposed in the literature. We have found that most of these methods and many reports have some incorrectness in the geometric factor Qi used for the calculation of pore volume ▵Vi from core volume ▵Vki. It has been proved that the correct expression for Qi should be [ri/(rKi + 1/2 ▵ti)]2 for cylindrical pores and ri/(rKi+ 1/2 ▵ti) for slit-shaped pores. On the basis of this correct Qi, these methods were applied to the desorption isotherms. The results were compared and analyzed.
