A system, developed to measure the moisture in tea leaves and relative humidity, temperature for tea industry, is presented in this work. The analysis covers the requirement of the system for the measurement of moisture, relative humidity and temperature. In this module, the resistance temperature detector is used as a sensor by which the relative humidity and temperature is measured. A capacitive/resistive type sensor is used for measurement of moisture. A 16 bit single chip microcontroller 8097BH is used in a system development along with other electronic signal conditioning and processing units. The adopted hardware strategies assure a low cost, high static and dynamic performance and good reliability. Software for measurement of three parameters is developed in assembly language. The calculation for measurement of relative humidity, temperature and moisture is done by a microcontroller. The application of this module is to measure the above parameters (i.e. relative humidity, moisture and temperature) for the tea industry.
