The absolute rate constants for the gas-phase reactions of 1,1-dichlorosilylene with carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide have been determined using the flash photolysis-kinetic absorption spectroscopy technique. The bimolecular rate constant values at 25° C are: k(Cl2Si+CO) (6.3 ± 0.7) x 108 M-1s-1 k(Cl2Si+N20) = (5.7±0.3) × 108M-1s-1
