This study focuses on the manifestations of the uncanny in Ahlām Mustaghānmī's 'Ābir Sarīr. It relies on the Freudian concept of the uncanny to show the defamiliarization of the ordinary and the estrangement from one's homeland in the world of the novel. By adopting a textual approach, the study analyzes the major signi fiers of the uncanny, especially the "bed," as it stands out prominently in the novel's title.
