title SUMMARY /title

Ernst Zinner was one of the best known historians of instruments of the 20th century. The following brief remarks are meant to give an introduction to the archives of his notes, correspondence and photographic records, and to trace the fate of this material from Zinner's desk in Bamberg to the library of the Institute for the History of Science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University at Frankfurt / Main. Mention is also made of Zinner's extensive book and manuscript collections which do not form part of the archive, but were sold to the library of San Diego State College, California.
