Alessandro Serpieri (1823-1885) pu essere considerato un tipico esponente di quella classe di scienziati, ancora oggi quasi sconosciuti, che tuttavia, a partire dalla seconda met dell'ottocento, contribuirono a quella lenta ma continua acquisizione delle conoscenze e delle competenze tecnico-scientifiche che prepararono il terreno al processo di industrializzazione in Italia. Le sue principali ricerche si articolarono nell'ambito dell'astronomia, della fisica, della meteorologia e della sismologia, fornendo per alcune di esse contributi interessanti ed originali. Viene qui presentato l'elenco completo, ordinato cronologicamente e con indice analitico, dei corrispondenti scientifici del Serpieri; segue l'elenco di alcune sue lettere a Filippo Cecchi.
