AbstractThis article presents a critical edition of the last known text of the thirteenth-century Jewish philosopher, Shem Tov Falaquera: a letter defending Maimonides from the attacks raised against him during the ‘third climax’ of the Maimonidean controversy, around 1290. This edition corrects many of the mistakes and omissions of the first edition of the text in the nineteenth century, and indicates the author’s sources. In an introduction, a point is made on the context of its redaction, on its editorial history and the problem of its authorship.
