1. Die Untersuchung einer Syntype von Mermis contorta Linstow, 1889, zeigte a) keine gekreuzte Fasersicht in der Cuticula b) acht hypodermale Längslinien. Deshalb gehört diese Art in das Genus Hydromermis Corti, 1902, wie von HAGMEIER (1912) vorgeschlagen wurde. Sie muss dort in der Kombination Hydromermis contorta (Linstow, 1889) Hagmeier, 1912 erscheinen. 2. Die Art Hydromermis rivicola Corti, 1902 ist ein Synonym zu H. contorta (Linstow, 1889) Hagmeier 1912; deshalb hat H. contorta die Priorität und wird der Genotyp. 3. Bei Überprüfung von Tieren, die in England gesammelt wurden, konnten drei der vier weiblichen Termini, die von KOHN (1905) beschrieben wurden, aufgefunden werden. Das einzige Spiculum von H. contorta ist durch Fusion zweier Spicula entstanden.
