One month after inoculation, roots showed a limited number of galls and many new roots, while 2 or 3 months after inoculation, roots progressively harbored many galls and fewer new roots. Both galled and ungalled tissues of the same root system absorbed P32; incorporated amounts were, however, accumulated in galled tissues and only limited amounts translocated to vegetative organs. It appears that prolonged parasitism leads to reduced translocation.
