The accumulation of sub-lethal doses of C14 labelled ethylene dibromide by Ditylenchus dipsaci (Kühn) in an aqueous medium has been studied by means of autoradiography and liquid scintillation counting. An autoradiographic technique suitable for nematodes is described and photomicrographs of autoradiographs obtained by this technique are figured. An even uptake of nematicide was detectable along the body length. No localization of the nematicide was detectable in association with any of the body organs. A quantitive study of the uptake of C14 labelled ethylene dibromide by dead and living D. dipraci has shown that live nematodes accumulated the nematicide within the tissues to a level exceeding that of the external concentration. No significant accumulation of nematicide was noted with dead nematodes.
