Es wird gezeigt, daß die auf theoretischen Überlegungen aufgebaute Gleichung dP(dt)-1 = rP (1 - PE-1) (1) ein passendes Modell ist für die Beziehung zwischen Vermehrungsrate und Bevölkerungsrate bei wandernden Nematoden, die sich kontinuierlich vermehren. Verschiedene Gleichungen werden von (1) abgeleitet. Die wichtigste ist Pf = aEPi {(a - 1) Pi + E}-1 (2) (Pi, Pf = Bevölkerungsdichten bei Anfang und Ende eines Versuches, E = Gleichgewichtsdichte, a = Multiplikationsrate bei Pi→0). Diese Gleichung ist auch anwendbar, wenn die Umstände und der Wirtsstatus der Pflanze während des Versuches variieren. Ergebnisse von Topfversuchen mit Pratylenchus penetrans, P. crenatus, Tylenchorhynchus dubius und Rotylenchus uni f ormis stimmten gut mit Gleichung (2) überein.
