Oogenesis and spermatogenesis in Anguina tritici follow the classical pattern common in diploid amphimictic animals. Gonial cell multiplication occurs in the germinal zone of the gonads through regular mitotic divisions. Following a period of growth oocytes and spermatocytes undergo two regular maturation divisions. Fusion of sperm and egg pronuclei takes place regularly. The somatic chromosome number is 38 in both sexes. No sex chromosomes could be distinguished.
