Die Entwicklungsgeschwindigkeit der Eier und Larven sowie die Eiablagekapazität von Aphelenchoides fragariae wurde an künstlich infizierten Begonienblättern studiert. Bei 18° C betrug die Eientwicklungsdauer 4 Tage, die der Larven 6-7 und die Ablagekapazität pro Weibchen durchschnittlich 32 Eier. Im histologischen Bild erkennt man, daß die Nematoden hauptsächlich die Epidermis der Blattunterseite befallen und von dort aus andere Zellen durch ihren Anstich abtöten.
