The genus Hirschmanniella is diagnosed. Six nominal species are redescribed from type material [H. spinicaudata (Sch. Stek., 1944), H. gracilis (de Man, 1880), H. oryzae (Soltwedel, 1889), H. behningi (Micoletzky, 1923), H. mexicana (Chitwood, 1951) n. comb. and H. mucronata (Das, 1960)]. H. zostericola (Allgen, 1934) is considered a valid species. Eight new species and two new synonyms (H. nana Siddiqi, 1966 and H. magna Siddiqi, 1966) are proposed. A key to the species and illustrations is presented.
