The generic composition of the subfamily Plectinae (Orley, 1880) Micoletzky, 1922 in the classification schemes of Goodey (1963) and De Coninck (1965) is discussed in context to the definitions of higher categories given by these two authors. On the basis of the original description of Pakira Yeates, 1967, it is suggested that this genus be placed in Leptolaiminae Chitwood, 1951 under Leptolaimidae Orley, 1880 (as redefined by De Coninck in 1965). The diagnoses of Plectoidea Chitwood, 1937 and Plectidae Orley, 1880 given by De Coninck (1965) are emended to conform to the correct shape of the amphid aperture.
