Cynipanguina danthoniae gen. n., sp. n. is described and illustrated from California oatgrass. Danthonia californica Boland in California. This new genus and species can be distinguished from other Anguina-like nematodes by the slender procorpus, the ovate metacorpus with a small but distinct valve, the digit-like process extending posteriorly from the swollen glandular portion of the esophagus and the lateral field which contains longitudinal, transverse and oblique striae. This nematode is widespread along the western coast of the United States. Life history studies revealed that the adults are the cryptobiotic stage within mature galls rather than the larvae.
