Symptoms associated with P. lobatus were observed in peach, apricot and citrus nurseries in South Australia. The nematode was shown to be associated with a reduction in root growth of citrus and apricot in pots, and to feed on peach and apricot roots growing on agar plates. In the field, a significant negative correlation (r = -0.329) was obtained between the height of the peach in the nursery and numbers of P. lobatus associated with those trees. No significant correlation was obtained between the size of citrus trees and P. lobatus numbers.
