Plesiodorus gen. n. (type-species: P. obtusus (Allen, 1957) comb. n.) is proposed in Dolichodorinae for five spp. of Dolichodorus, sensu lato, which have lateral fields with four incisures and an obtusely rounded, annulated female tail. Dolichodorus, sensu stricto, and Dolichodorinae are redefined and Plesiodorus rostrulatus sp. n. from Brazil is described. Meiodorus gen. n. and Meiodorinae subfam. n. (Dolichodoridae) are proposed for M. hollisi sp. n. from Louisiana, USA which has lateral fields with three incisures, a rounded head lacking strong sclerotization, an attenuated spear 23-26 μm long, unsclerotized vagina, an elongate-conoid minutely rounded female tail and a trilobed bursa. Amplimerlinius gen. n. is recognized among Merliniinae by its abnormally thickened cuticle at the tail terminus which in the female is hemispherical and annulated, lip annules not marked with longitudinal indentations, sclerotized cephalic framework and a robust spear; A. amplus sp. n. (type-species) and A. nectolineatus sp. n. are described from Portugal and seven new combinations are proposed. Tylenchorhynchus magnicauda (Thorne, 1935) and Tylenchorhynchus graminicola Kirjanova, 1951 are transferred to Amplimerlinius and Merlinius, respectively. Gracilancea gen. n. is proposed for Tylenchus graciloides Micoletzky, 1925 and is placed in Tylodorinae, raised to Tylodoridae grad. n.
