Xiphinema longicaudatum Luc, 1961, previously described from a single female, is redescribed from 29 additional females from different locations in West Africa. The structure of the reduced anterior female genital branch was especially studied. Thirteen populations of Xiphinema krugi Lordello, 1955, from Africa, Asia, North and South America were also studied. The structure of their reduced anterior female genital branch, consisting of three parts (reduced uterus, sphincter and remnant of the oviduct) as in X. longicaudatum, conformed to the original description. The length, shape and structure of the tail tip varied, even within the same population. Mainly on the basis of these points, the synonymy of X. denoudeni Loof & Maas, 1972 and X. loosi Southey & Luc, 1973 with X. krugi is confirmed.
