A bisexual clover cyst nematode population was isolated from soil-root samples from a pasture near Münster, Germany. It can be distinguished from H. trifolii Goffart, 1932 by morphological characters of the juveniles and therefore is described as a new species, H. daverti. H. trifolii is redescribed and a neotype is designated.
