Activity and survival of three Hirschmanniella species were investigated from pH 3 to 9 at 25°, and under aerobic and anaerobic conditions at four different temperatures. Activity and survival of all three species were poorest at pH 3 and at 10°. The ability of the nematodes to survive anaerobic conditions suggests that they are facultative anaerobes.
