Duration and repetition of stimulation by pea root diffusate are very important in the hatch of Heterodera goettingiana from free eggs. Exposure periods of > 18 h per week were necessary to achieve hatches commensurate with those obtained from continuous exposure to diffusate. The results are compared with previous data on the hatching response of Globodera rostochiensis.
