Four new species of Chronogaster Cobb, 1913 are described. These include C. chilensis n. sp. distinguished by its hook-like, ventrally, irregularly bent terminus and prominent circular amphid; C. elegans n. sp. distinguished by its long cephalic setae (18-24 μm), large size (L = 1.37-1.96 mm), and terminus with terminal spine plus several spines on ventral side (dorsal side smooth); C. floridensis n. sp. distinguished by its long tail (c = 4.4-7.4) with slender digitate finely rounded terminus and absence of vacuolated lateral glandular bodies: and C. aspinata n. sp. distinguished by cephalic setae 4-6 μm, postbulbar projection 21-32 μm and finely conoid terminus devoid of spines. Further description is also given of C. longicollis (Daday, 1899) Andrássy, 1958. Simplification of terminology of cuticular structures of the tail of Chronogaster is proposed and a key to species of the genus is included.
