Chiloplacus minimus (Thorne, 1925) Andrássy, 1959, is described from specimens obtained from arable land in Sweden and laboratory cultures. Light and scanning electron microscope studies provide additional information on morphology and intraspecific variability of both sexes. Variation in shape of cephalic and labial probolae, and tails was not as great as in some other laboratory cultured cephalobids. Males, not necessary for reproduction, occurred occasionally in 15°C cultures (3% males), but were extremely rare in 20-25°C cultures (« 1 % males) and not found in the field population. C. soosi (Andrássy, 1953) Andrássy, 1959 is synonymised with C. minimus.
