Populations of Heterodera avenae from 12 infested sites from different geographical areas of continental Spain are characterized by the International test assortment for resistance to H. avenae. The 12 populations can be grouped in three new and different pathotypes. These three pathotypes also differ from the ten previously reported in the literature. The new pathotypes are: Ha22 - populations 1-6 from Teruel, Ha71 - populations 7-11 from Toledo and Ha81 - population 12 from Sevilla.
