This paper deals with three new species of Xiphinema related to X. meridianum Heyns, 1971. X. lacrimaspinae n. sp. closely resembles X. barbercheckae Coomans & Heyns, 1985 but differs in the arrangement, number and shape of the uterine spines; X. ripogranum n. sp. is gonochoristic like X. bolandium Coomans & Heyns, 1985 but differs in the structure of the pseudo-Z-organ; X. erriae n. sp. has only two or three granules in the pseudo-Z-organ while the other species of this group with pseudo-Z-organs have at least four granules; it further differs from X. meridianum in having a larger odontostyle and differently shaped tail. Considering the known distribution of species related to X. meridianum in South Africa, it is concluded that this is an endemic group which originated in the southern Cape Province, and which is adapted to feed on woody plants.
