Psilenchus vinciguerrae n. sp., provenant de Sicile (Italie), est caractérisé par son corps relativement court et fin, une région céphalique à profil trapézoïdal et sans striation, un stylet épais, sans boutons basaux, long d'environ 11 μm; MB = 52 (50-56); spicules = 18-22 μm; queue longue et fine. Les différents rapports utilisés pour caractériser cette espèce sont passés en revue; ils ne remplissent pas parfaitement les strictes conditions mathématiques permettant l'utilisation d'un rapport. Il est néanmoins conclu que les limites inhérentes à la variabilité autorisent l'usage de tels rapports pour la caractérisation des espèces, même s'ils ne sont pas mathématiquement rigoureux.
