Two species of Chronogaster were found in mineral, medicinal springs in the province of Granada (Spain). C. zujarensis n. sp. is characterized by the presence of elongate crystalloids in the anterior body wall, absence of vacuolated glandular bodies, cephalic setae 8-9 μm long, radial tubules of pharynx 25-27.5 μm behind stoma, tail 155-220 μm long ending in a long mucro surrounded by 2-4 small spines. C. cameroonensis Heyns & Coomans, 1984 is redescribed on the basis of eight females, extending the hitherto known range of variation. C. zujarensis n. sp. was found in only one spring with conductivity of 6110 μS/cm, predominance of sulphate-, chloride-, calcium- and sodium ions, and a temperature of 38°C. C. cameroonensis was found in ten springs with conductivity values between 474 and 3192 μS/cm, predominance of bicarbonate- and calcium ions, and temperature between 16 and 40°C.
