image of Insect Systematics & Evolution

The genus Hylobius Schönh. is represented by four species in Scandinavia: abietis L., piceus De G., pinastri Gyll. and transversovittatus Goeze. Larvae of the three first-mentioned species have been known earlier, but in connection with the description of the larva of transversovittatus, a revision of the larvae of all species was performed, resulting in a key. The different shape of the maxillae of the larvae of Pissodes and Hylobius is described for the first time.
